Absolutely beautiful , cannot fault it ,if you want to get away and unwind then this is the place ,it doesn’t really matter on the weather either ,had a brilliant walk , looking out the window in the morning at the sunrise after Rays advice was spot on , I would say right amount to pay as well N

Me and My Friend spent 3 nights here.
We had an amazing weekend, from start to finish. Ray was an amazing host, communication before, during and after our stay has been 5*. The lodge is VERY clean, has all the main essentials and the jacuzzi and sauna was a perfect touch. Lovely walks, little country pubs and a short drive to bigger towns.

If you’re looking for a spot of luxury for amazing value then this is your place. The sauna and jacuzzi bath were a bonus on top of amazing views and beautiful walks!

What an absolute gem and bargain for the peace and serenity you get. The lodge is gorgeous and beautifully decorated. On arrival, it was warm and cosy, Ray had popped the heating on and fairy lights on the decking. The views are great and it was lovely to watch the horses in the fields. We were able to fully relax and enjoy the sauna and jacuzzi bath. Ed will definitely book again as we were so impressed with it all. Leanne

We loved staying here – it is so cosy and magical.Even with terrible weather the cabin felt so warm and comfortable – the sauna was amazing it felt like we were in Sweden ! We loved our stay.
The sauna was amazing and we enjoyed lots of local walks.
Ray was incredibly helpful but left us to get on with our stay and relax.
We worked from the lodge for a few days and the WiFi worked well enough for two of us to work from laptops.
One thing to note is that the property is under a flight path from the local airport so you can occasionally hear noise from that. But it didn’t disturb us like it may some people. Tilly

Ray and his lodge are definitely worth a visit. Cosy accommodation with all the beautiful views on offer too. Spotlessly clean and comfortable bed ,which is what most people look for when they are away . Nice village location and close to Ashby and surrounding areas .

We made a mistake of using this for a B&B stop over while meeting Family for a Christmas gathering. It’s better than that. We failed to use all the facilities at the lodge and in the surrounding area. Our loss.
A lovely place to watch the sun come up – and I’m told by someone who lives in Castle Donnington – you soon get use to the aircraft movements which initially may seem intrusive. The view more than makes up for it.
Arrangements were easy – dog welcomed at small extra cost (and he loved the footpaths we found – and there are more); check in smooth, and check out just as easy.
I’m told, by ‘management’, we should be making arrangements to go back for a longer stay. So, thank you Ray. Michael

What a wonderful lodge! We had a really relaxed and chilled time at Horseshoe Lodge. It’s ideally located to offer both a quiet and relaxed stay as well as having great transport links to the beautiful market towns and villages nearby. It’s a shame we only had 3 nights.
The lodge is beautifully designed and presented and the sauna really adding to our relaxation.
Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing and chilled break away from the hustle and bustle. Andrew

If you think the description of The Horseshoe Lodge and pictures make this look like a perfect place to stay, then you are absolutely right. But be prepared to have your expectations exceeded. The setting is perfect – a lovely rural feel with wonderful views, yet within walking distance of shops, pubs, etc and close to towns, cities and tourist attractions by car if needed. The Lodge is stylish and cosy – all the fixtures and fittings are of such high quality; no expense has been spared to make this a perfect place to relax. And what better way to relax than using the private sauna followed by a jacuzzi bath?!
Ray was the perfect host. From the initial communication, to receiving clear helpful instructions and then meeting us on the day of our arrival – excellent.
The only problem we had was that we enjoyed our stay so much, we didn’t want to leave! Will definitely be returning to The Horseshoe Lodge. Linda

The horses are a lovely touch and you can see them roaming around from the cabin.

We’ve just got back for a wonderful 4 night stay at the lodge. Ray was an excellent host and answered messages before check in really quickly, he also greeted us on our arrival and gave us some great information about the local area and places to visit. We loved walking The Cloud Trail to Melbourne and the cross country route back. The added extras of the sauna and a jacuzzi bath were fantastic. We would highly recommend! Penny

The lodge is perfect for a relaxing time. Beautiful views from the decking made us not want to go out! but when we did Breedon has a lovely church to visit and a few pubs that we didn’t get to visit but looked really nice.
The hosts were on hand if we needed but everything we needed was in the lodge once we stocked it with food.

The lodge is situated in the most beautiful location with amazing views, which are easily enjoyed from either the decking, living space, or the bedroom. The lodge is well equipped with everything you need for your stay and very clean when we arrived. The whirlpool and sauna where a MASSIVE bonus. The location has some great walks (if you’re in to that) which was great to adventure out with our dog (who also loved flaking out on the decking after a long walk). Some really amazing pubs in the area who serve great food (Ray’s recommendations were spot on). Finally the host, Ray was amazing, kind, helpful, informative and there when/if needed, everything you want in a host, was a pleasure meeting him. Hoping to return one day. Perry

We had a wonderful time staying at horseshoe lodge! The lodge was comfortable, clean and equipped with useful appliances. I booked the lodge in search of some peace and quiet – a space to do some work. Ray met me when I arrived, was welcoming and made sure I knew where to get provisions and made some suggestions for local walks. The lodge was spotless, cosy and perfect for my purposes. It was great to sit out on the patio/balcony with my laptop and watch the horses. The space itself feels pretty spacious. The bed was comfy, too. Really happy with my stay and hope to go back again in the future.

Detailed directions were provided with photos which made it very easy to find. Ray is friendly and chatty with a sound knowledge of the area. The accommodation is a beautiful and cosy place, wood inside and out. it has plenty of space for 2 people. We were in the sauna every day, easy to use and heats up quickly. A spacious bathroom with a corner jacuzzi bath and a separate step in shower. Immersion heaters provided hot water. Superb countryside views with several horses nearby. I adored the duvet cover and pillow cases. The tv connected to a satellite dish and wifi was excellent. Modern kitchen area at one end of the lounge has ample utensils, crockery and cutlery. An electric fire in the lounge gave an extra boost of heat. Hand soap provided in the bathroom and in the kitchen, plus kitchen paper roll, foil and cling film were appreciated. Andrea

You can stay inside the cabin and enjoy the peace and quiet and relax in the jacuzzi bath and sauna room or alternatively you can take advantage of the fantastic location and explore the local villages which are all within walking distance.

Fantastic short stay in the countryside. We loved how cosy the place was. Ray kindly greeted us shortly after arriving and also took the time to say goodbye. The heating works very well so it was lovely and hot. One of the best parts of the lodge is the bathroom. The jacuzzi bath and as amazing! It didn’t take long to fill and the sauna only takes 20 minutes to heat up. Lovely country walks are close by. Perfect stay in the country.

Our trip to the Horse shoe lodge was a perfect getaway for what we wanted. It was me my husband and our dog. Jacuzzi and sauna was a lovely touch and beautiful grounds. A little dusty in places and few cobwebs here and there. Just a wipe over was all that was needed. We took our own bedding but the bed was made up nicely. Communication was good throughout and on welcome. Overall well worth the price and stay was lovely

We have just returned home after a 2 night stay at The Horseshoe Lodge. From the very start Ray was quick to answer any queries we had. Booking was straight forward with no hidden no hidden fees. The lodge was easy to find via sat nav, Ray was there to meet us when we arrived. Very friendly host! The lodge itself is beautifully decorated. Hand picked marigolds in a vase was a lovely touch! The cabin was clean apart from two plates that had butter on in the cupboard ( this didnt bother us in the slightest as it was very minor). The jacuzzi bath and sauna was a great added extra to the relaxing break we needed. No instructions on how to use the sauna or jacuzzi but its pretty straight forward! The cabin has amazing views! We were lucky enough to have the horses in the fields right outside the cabin! Lots of local walks to go on. We also had a trip to Staunton reservoir which was lovely. We had a drive to asda 10 mins away for a few bits of shopping. There was a small local shop and a pub but we didnt visit these. The cabin has a folder with plenty of takeaway menus if this is what you fancy. We had a brilliant little break away from daily life! Thanks again Ray! Grace, Andy and the Pomeranians 🙂

Ray was the perfect host and the communication was great. The cabin itself is lovely, has everything you need (and more) and easy to find. A cozy spot with Beautiful views and lots of country walks. I wish I could live there! We cooked at the cabin and ate out at a couple of local pubs both within walking distance (proper country pubs, friendly staff and good wholesome food). The weather was rainy but that didn’t stop us having a great time!! I highly recommend, we will be back!

Loved this place was outstanding value for money with amazing scenery. Very quiet and peaceful lodge was extremely clean and Ray was very knowledgeable of the area and places to visit. You would been foolish not to book this lodge. Only one tip for future guests take your slippers as it is a no shoes policy in the lodge this is not a gripe it’s just a tip.

A huge thank you to Ray & Helen for being the best hosts! We found a few days in our busy work lives to get away for a rest and the lodge was absolute bliss. It felt really luxurious having a jacuzzi bath, sauna and such a gorgeous view from the deck where we enjoyed warm evenings sipping Prosecco! We took our two dogs and had some lovely walks, we thought it would be difficult to find anything with such luxury and also be dog friendly – we were so lucky to find the lodge and at such good value too! We had a very pleasant stay at Ray’s cabin. The cabin had a jacuzzi and a sauna, which were not mentioned in the advert, so that’s a plus. The views are beautiful. We also enjoyed watching the horses in the field as we played cards and dice games on the terrace. Ray and Helen gave us lots of useful information about the lovely walks in the area. We would highly recommend.
